Primary Advisor
Yong-Mi Kim is currently a doctoral candidate in the School of Information. She is interested in people's information behavior on the Web, in particular how they go about looking for and sharing information on sites built around user-generated content. She has also examined the use of methodologies such as dual-task and social network analysis for information science topics. She holds a M.S. in Computer Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the MSI (Library & Information Services specialization) from the School of Information. Prior to SI, she was a software engineering consultant specializing in software process improvement.
Shu-Yi Chen is a doctoral student at the School of Information, University of Michigan. His current research interest focuses on understanding the interplay between human and information, especially how people approach information, and how information presents itself to people. He holds a BS degree in Civil Engineering, an MS degree in Transportation Engineering, and a PhD degree in Management Information Systems, all from National Taiwan University. Before joining SI, he was an assistant professor at Ming Chuan University.
Beth St. Jean is currently a first-year doctoral student at the University of Michigan’s School of Information and a Graduate Student Research Assistant for the IMLS-funded MIRACLE (Making Institutional Repositories A Collaborative Learning Environment) project. She holds a Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics from Smith College and a Master's Degree in Information (Library & Information Services specialization) from the School of Information. Beth's interests include consumer health information behavior, credibility, information literacy, and institutional repositories.
